How the Car Scrapping Process Works

Once you get in touch with us and provide some basic details about your vehicle, we’ll give you a competitive price and book a convenient scrap car collection time between 7 am and 4 pm. On the day of collection, our driver will arrive at your address — just make sure you’ve removed all personal belongings from the car beforehand.

We’ll complete the V5C logbook with you and provide the relevant section, which can now be sent to the DVLA online for faster processing. Payment is made by bank transfer or cheque if requested, and you’ll be paid within the hour of collection or as soon as the vehicle arrives at our scrapyard in Telford. Our team will then take care of notifying the DVLA and deleting the vehicle from their system, giving you complete peace of mind.

What Documents Do You Need to Scrap a Car?

To scrap a car in the UK, the main document required is the V5C logbook. If you have it, we’ll complete the relevant section with you at the time of collection. This can then be submitted to the DVLA online, which is the quickest way to notify them that the vehicle has been scrapped. If you don’t have the logbook, don’t worry — you can still legally scrap your car, and our team will guide you through the process and handle the DVLA notification on your behalf. Once the vehicle has been processed at our scrapyard, a Certificate of Destruction will be issued, confirming that the car has been disposed of correctly and in line with UK regulations.

Can You Scrap a Car Without a Logbook?

Yes, you can still scrap a car without a V5C logbook. While having the logbook makes the process quicker, it isn’t essential. If the V5C is missing or has been lost, we can still collect the vehicle and carry out all the necessary checks to ensure it is scrapped legally. Our team will confirm ownership details and notify the DVLA on your behalf once the vehicle reaches our scrapyard. You’ll still receive confirmation that the car has been correctly processed, giving you peace of mind that everything has been handled in line with UK regulations. We dont accept cars that have the VIN plate covered/damaged.

We would need to take a picture of your Photo ID if you were to go this route.

Preparing Your Car for Collection

Before your scrap car collection, it’s important to make sure the vehicle is ready and easily accessible. Please remove all personal belongings from inside the car, including the boot and glove box, before our driver arrives. If the vehicle is parked on a driveway, roadside, or in a tight location, ensure there is clear access so our recovery vehicle can load it safely. If the car is not running or has flat tyres, let us know in advance so we can bring the correct equipment. Making your car accessible helps avoid delays and ensures your collection in Telford and the surrounding areas runs smoothly and on time.
